Why can’t non-insured get the same discount
Still drives me nuts when I get a medical bill and you see what the original charge was then you see the “Insurance negotiated discount” or adjustments or whatever they call it. That negotiated discount is usually like 90%. But complaining about the american healthcare system is about just as effective as screaming into the wind. Just seems like if the doctors/hospitals/etc. can still make a profit even after offering a 90% discount, they’re really just trying to financially screw over the people without insurance. But the people without insurance usually can’t afford the stupidly-high charges anyways and won’t pay, so it seems counter-productive. If they offered people the same “discount” they offer insurance companies I’m thinking they’d see a lot more non-insured medical bills getting paid.
Ok, done screaming into the wind. I’m glad I have medical insurance, good insurance at that, but even on this side of the fence I can acknowledge how messed up the system is.
